Mid-Level Aquatic Biologist, Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: Spring 2025
We are expanding our team and looking for a career-oriented biologist with experience in project management, biological field assessments, and technical writing. Effective communication, ability to properly apply the scientific method, and a strong interest in team collaboration is a must. The most qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, or related field, with some chemistry courses.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as a representative of Aqua Sierra, Inc. and keep a high level of integrity.
- Work with a diverse group of landowners and water managers across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West who need help with an assortment of water-related issues.
- Conduct biological, chemical, and physical field assessments, as well as compile literature and analyze the data to develop proper management practices, design criteria, or treatment needs.
- Develop aquatic system management, fisheries surveys, water treatment recommendation
- Properly classify fish and aquatic plants commonly found in the Western US; experience in aquatic invertebrate identification is a plus.
- Prepare reports conveying complex data sets relating to aquatic sciences detailing management plans for waterbodies used for water storage, irrigation, recreation, and/or aesthetics.
- Present findings to individuals, small groups, or large boards; attend meetings.
- Execute management plans and assist other team members with fieldwork as needed.
- Maintain and repair sampling equipment, boats, trailers, and trucks. Experience with small farm equipment is a plus. Calibrate and inventory laboratory/field equipment when necessary.
- Participate in grounds and building maintenance as needed.
Additional responsibilities involve marketing, hauling/stocking live fish, applying aquatic pesticides, and processing water samples utilizing standard methods and equipment. Overnight travel and/or extended field days are occasionally required. Projects can necessitate strenuous physical activity and candidate should be able to lift/carry a minimum of thirty pounds.
